Starting at 10:30 pm this Saturday, June 15th, the third day of the Atlantic Festival will take place in the bay of Funchal, with a show provided by England and called ‘Décadas’. The company ‘Fully Fused Firewoks’ is in charge of the event, which will feature a specially created soundtrack, which fundamentally represents the rhythms, changes and evolutions of fireworks. It will be this set of songs that the company aims to stimulate those who watch, awakening sensations that materialize and are expressed in the choreography.
“It includes songs from the United Kingdom, with some exceptions at the beginning and end. They are of the Pop & Rock genre, from the last decades, and aim to take the public on a mythical journey from the golden years of the 60s of the last century to the present day, with themes that remained on everyone’s ears”, explains a press release.
The first day of the event was in charge of Italy, followed by France. These three countries participate with pyromusical shows, lasting 20 minutes, in the Madeira International Fireworks Competition (CIFAM).
The objective is to achieve the “Atlantic Trophy”, awarded by a jury, as well as the “Madeira Tão Tua Trophy”, chosen by the public. Voting can be done through tombolas placed in the Plaza Madeira shopping center, and at the Tourist Information Office of the Regional Directorate of Tourism, on Avenida Arriaga, and on the night of each show, at Cais do Funchal. The results of the Madeira International Fireworks Competition will be known on the 22nd.
The Atlantic Festival, which runs until the 23rd, also includes the “Sunset summer” Mercadinho, in Praça do Povo, an initiative that takes place every day with opening hours from Sunday to Thursday, from 16:00 to 00:00 , and on Fridays and Saturdays, it closes an hour later.
There are also radio broadcasts, concerts and entertainment with a DJ Set.
This year’s edition of the Atlantic Festival highlights the novelty of “Ópera no Pico”, whose first two performances, in the Fortaleza de São João do Pico, already took place on the first and eighth of this month. Two more will now follow, on the 15th and 22nd of June.
Also a reference to the circus arts shows, at Praça do Povo, on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of June, at 9:30 pm. In this edition they present the theme “Sky Light”.
