First landing on national soil of the new KC-390 took place in Porto Santo

The new KC-390 of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP) is already in Portugal. The military plane landed at 11:30 am today at Air Base No. 11, in Beja, coming from Gavião Peixoto, Brazil, with the first landing on national soil being made on Porto Santo Island.

The second aircraft of a total of five destined for Squadron 506 – Rhinos, arrived in the country after completing technical stops in Recife, also in Brazil, and at Maneuver Aerodrome No. 3, on Ilha Dourada, according to today the FAP, in a statement.

The ceremony that officially delivered the second KC-390 aircraft to the Air Force took place in Brazil, at Embraer’s facilities, on June 26th.

“The KC-390, produced by Embraer, equips Squadron 506 – Rhinos and is an aircraft with intercontinental range, equipped with multi-mission capabilities and capable of carrying out strategic and tactical operations, civil and military, from the transport of troops, vehicles and palletized cargo, paratrooper and cargo release, aeromedical transport, search and rescue missions, aerial refueling and fighting forest fires”, according to the description provided by the FAP.
