Monte Palace Madeira – Tropical Garden with free entry for residents on Region Day

On the 1st of July, Monte Palace Madeira – Jardim Tropical, located in the parish of Monte, opens its doors free of charge to residents of RAM, in celebration of the Day of the Autonomous Region of Madeira and Madeiran Communities.

“This event, marked by tradition, provides local inhabitants with the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of this culturally rich space. To guarantee free entry, visitors must present proof of residence at the garden’s ticket offices”, states a press release. 

In addition to free access to the garden and museum, this year a special program will be presented in front of the palace, with three distinct musical moments: 10:30 am to 11:30 am: Violin and Saxophone Duo – The VioSax Duo will enchant visitors with engaging melodies; 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm: Madeiran Folklore – The MonteVerde Group will bring to the garden the energy and tradition of the island’s folk music and dance; 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm: Vânia Fernandes and Francisco Lopes will provide a memorable show with their music.

In addition to the cultural offer, there is the opportunity to explore the new exhibition of Modern and Contemporary art, opened on May 8, 2024, entitled ‘The World Begins Here!’.

This exhibition, spread across the Museum’s two upper floors, presents a diverse collection of more than 200 works, including painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation, celebrating artistic diversity and testifying to Monte Palace Madeira’s ongoing commitment to preservation and promotion. of the arts.

Highlighting national and international artists, the exhibition offers a comprehensive view of the contemporary artistic panorama, covering almost a century of artistic production and incorporating representative works from different movements, such as abstract expressionism, constructivism, pop art and body art.
