Bus driver had to receive hospital treatment

The 62-year-old driver of the bus consumed by flames this afternoon had to receive hospital treatment due to eye irritation, due to the chemicals in the extinguisher that was initially used to fight the flames.

Members of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters, mobilized to the scene, also washed the man’s eyes, but he had to be transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital. 

According to what DIÁRIO managed to find out, the four passengers who were on the bus managed to escape unharmed.

There were 13 members and five vehicles from the Funchal Sapadores Firefighters at the scene.
