Emigrant from Machico who was shot ended up dying

Pedro de Ponte, the emigrant from Machico, who was shot three times yesterday morning in the suburbs of Johannesburg, when he was preparing to open the business in which he was the manager, did not survive the serious injuries he had and ended up dying in the hospital in the area of Parktown, reported a source close to the businessman.

Another piece of news that shakes the Madeiran community, which is being heavily buffeted by the wave of organized violence and groups of African ethnic mafias who launch attacks against Portuguese businessmen.

In the space of six months, the number of victims of robberies and kidnappings in the economic capital of South Africa increases to two deaths. There are more than 17 kidnappings in such a short space of time and it is leaving the Portuguese community very apprehensive. Last week a 57-year-old woman was murdered in Bedfordview. She was born in Ponta do Sol.

Meanwhile, two other Madeirans kidnapped in the West Rand and Southdale still remain in captivity, the first on Monday and the second on Thursday outside his business.
